One Heart Nola, originally In His Hands, began in 2008 by two foster families who recognized that the needs of foster children, birth families and foster families were greater than the State was able to provide. With a grass roots vision, these folks began spreading the word about the various needs to friends and family, neighbors and church members as well as going to garage sales and asking for was ever wasn’t sold. It did not take long for an empty bedroom to become a resource facility benefiting children and families in need.
In His Hands had grown so much that it was time to apply for a 501c3 non-profit status. In October 2015, the non-profit status was granted by the federal government as was the birth of One Heart Nola.
Run by volunteers, One Heart remains a grass roots operation believing that people best help other people.
